Replaced CRT with LCD monitor

I am running Red Hat Linux 9 on a Pentium II with an ATI Rage 128 video card. I recently replaced the Sony model CPD-20SF2 CRT-type monitor with an Envision model TFT1560PS LCD-type monitor. The LCD monitor is analog, not digital. I unplugged the CRT monitor from the system unit and plugged the LCD monitor in its place. The LCD monitor seems to be functioning OK.

I didnít tell linux that I changed monitors, nor did linux recognize that I changed monitors. I looked at System Settings ==> Display ==> Display Settings ==> Advanced tab and the Monitor Type is still shown as the Sony.

Do I need to tell linux about the new monitor? If so, how do I do that? What kind of monitor do I tell linux Iím now using? I do not see Envision listed in the selection list for monitors.

Thanks.

You could end up with a 'crispy critter' if you're overdriving that lcd panel.

Copy your x-config file to a backup and run your fav' x-config program (see your xfree docs) with the lcd panels specs to ensure you don't overdrive your panel too much.
