Question Startx problem: XIO: fatal error 104

My OS is Debian/Sarge.

I updated my KDE with apt-get update kde-core, then I tried to install it, but it didn't work (Cannot connect to X server).

Then I downloaded the new Xfree, with apt-get update x-window-core, and installed it ..

Now, when I try to run X with startx I get the error message from the thread subject ...

I've checked my hardware specifications and entered them correctly when prompted by the X setup wizard ...

then I tried different variations with dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xfree86 and all of the options resulted with the same 104 error...

Also tried the xf86config command, entered the values step by step and still get nothing ...
