XIO: Fatal IO Error 104

Error Message:

XIO: Fatal IO Error 104 (connection reset by user) on X Server "0.0" after 0 request (0 known processed) with O events remaining

AMD Sempron 2600+
Asus K8V-X Motherboard
RedHat Linux 9.0
Dual Boot with WIN 2k Pro/Server

I just recently built this system and used a hardrive with WIN 2K Pro/Server installed. I then decided to dual boot with RedHat Linux 9.0. The installation went fine (so, I thought). Once I ran RedHat, it seemed to be loading ok until I got the error listed above. What does this mean?

*Also, it seems to be running fine in text mode, but no graphics.

Google that error, you get many results from other sources.

I solved this problem by specifying more precisely the HorizSync and VertRefresh in /etc/X11/xorg.conf in Section "Monitor" according to what my monitor can handle.
