Future Grub configuration

Hey all, I have debian right now and I love it. So far it is the most stable thing I have ever worked with. I also love the easy of keeping things updated with the use of an automatic script that 'apt-get update;apt-get upgrade' and keeps everything up to par. This is why I must ask.

I would like to experiment with the newest versions of Gentoo(because it compiles everything specific for each individual computer) and Slackware(because I've heard it's good for those who want to learn the nitty-gritty linux details). My problem is that I want grub to stay in Debian. I want Grub to be able to boot into my Debian, WinXP Pro(so far it does these well), but also to my two(yet to be installed) distro's of linux. How would I get this to work? Any ideas? What should I keep in mind as I'm installing Gentoo and Slackware? Any advice would be very welcome.

Just leave your MBR pointing to the grub configuration file in Debian. Do not allow any future installs to overwrite the MBR. Whenever you install another OS add it to your Debian grub configuration file.
