I got sound working. Fix was so easy i wish i had done it days ago.
For some reason all the alsa utilities didnt get installed when i installed my system. Once i got them installed i just ran alsa-conf it detected and configured my sound then saved the .conf
Im loving conectiva now that ive got the small little issues worked out.

hey mead, im glad to hear that!

ya, linux works! BUT* it takes alot to get all the little things sorted out...

when mouse/sound and the essential things dont work from the start, it tends to discourage ppl.

but im glad u worked things out...

theres ALOT more tweaking to do though, but each time u tweak u learn more about the system

Tell me about it. Im not sure what i did, but i hosed something trying to get the nvidia drivers working right and trying to fix it just made it worse. Ended up having to do a reinstall. On the upside, i learned that if you manually select your mouse and choose microsoft intellimouse ps/2 even if you're using a logitech mx500 usb mouse you have scrolling and dont have to edit anything. Now just gotta get sound working again and try for 3d without killing my install again.
