Debian 10 Upgrade on 9-year-old desktop machine is successful but with anomalies

This post is a summary of two anomalous results from upgrading to Debian 10 on my primary desktop computer Pogo2011. The machine was purchased new from Pogo Linux in 2011 with Ubuntu 11.04 pre-installed. It is now set up for dual booting from either Ubuntu or Debian, each OS booting from a separate hard drive and each with its own Grub installation. Prior to the Debian 10 upgrade, the OS was Debian 9.11. At the end of this post is a machine hardware summary.

ABOUT Linux For All (LFA) Build 191111
The system is based on Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS and Debian. Itís a total rebuild. I.e. nothing is left of the old LFA system.

WHY Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS?
Ubuntu 18.04 is supported until April 2023. Ubuntu 19.10 is supported until July 2020 only.

NEWS ABOUT LFA Build 191111
1. This is a very BIG system (2120MB). All packages the ordinary Linux user can wish for are pre-installed.
2. Kernel 5.4.0-rc6-exton is used....

I am a big fan of the KISS principle (Keep It Simple, Stupid) and I agree with LQ member ChuangTzu. Those new to Linux will gain confidence simply by using it and then gradually accumulating further knowledge as time goes by.

I am not suggesting that Linux Mint, featured here, is the most suitable Linux distribution (distro) for all users and for all computer hardware....

Florida vs Illinois winter

I made it back to Florida. Missed the first snow back in Illinois by one day. First week here was in the 90's and now it has settled back a bit to the mid 70's and high 80. Love the warmth!

First thing back, I had to replace my five year old Golf cart batteries set (4 x 12VDC). Trojan T-1275 at $153/ea plus 96 pounds each. I would have the install done but earliest time to get on schedule was Nov 19, 2019. I need my cart for more than just Golf. We use it to transport...
