It's HOT!!!

Posted 06-29-2023 at 02:01 PM by onebuck

Hi,

My second summer here in Florida and boy is it hot. Seems to be the hottest yet. I love it here and learned to adjust my outdoor activities. I'm glad to have made the decision to stay here in Florida. Illinois is now having to struggle with the Canadian fires pushing smoke over the Midwest. I would be confined to my home because of my asthma and cardio issues. I'd go nuts! At least here I can take my meds to help through allergens.

I'm trying to gain back my muscle mass that was lost when I went from about 198-200 to 168 after Anne's passing which is 1# lighter than my Air Force discharge in 1969. She was a great cook and I attempted to eat very well thus putting on excess weight. I went from a 36" waist to a 33" pant size therefore a lot of muscle mass and fat lost. I am working out for my cardio and pulmonary plus watching my protein intakes. I play a lot of golf and added my bicycle back into my exercise program. I do my lifts and conditioning exercises.

I am now able to add back to my diet a lot of fruit and vegetables that the GI doctors had me stop eating because of diverticulitis. My new personal care Physician said that the GI doctors are still stuck in the 50-60's with their recommendations. He presented me with two papers, one from Mayo and the other from Cleveland clinic. Both stated that GI recommending removal of all seed based foods was not proven, My doctor said to add back gradually to see how I handled the changes. So far everything is a OK.

I have regained some mass and the VA doctors are monitoring me to help with some therapy for my leg injury. I tried a brace but decided to use KT to support the right interior leg injury from a twist as I step down from the tee on a slope. I stepped into hole that was covered with grass looking as if level but the hole caused a twisting of my right knee. Boy did that ever hurt. It swelled in a matter of a few minutes. I left the course and put on a brace. I had to use some ice and pain meds to help me.

VA doctors suggest therapy and that I should monitor the knee for any changes. I know the patella is okay but the interior muscle and possibly the ligament may need the therapy. It's hell getting older but I need to keep my activity up.

Our HOA finally got fiber into our community and is it ever nice. I had fiber while living in Illinois. Here we had cable and it was not very reliable and was very slow for price paid. Now HOA provides our Frontier Fiber Internet and DirecTv streaming. Verizon had put in Fiber for our community but Comcast would not switch over to fiber. Our HOA told Comcast that the contract would not be renewed unless future fiber was used. The bid from Frontier and DirecTv was accepted and we were moved over to the fiber with minimal efforts since the trunks were already in place. At my home the installer did have to go to all the local ties and clean the ends of the fiber. All the boxes were not sealed very good so the burnishing and cleaning was required. It didn't surprise me since the original installation was for the Verizon Security system plus Internet. Heck the original equipment box on my home was placed outside early 2010, as the tech tells me. I had removed the interior box when I purchased the home to get rid of the battery and support interfaces. I knew that fiber was in the park as a few friends used Frontier as a provider.

I did add a refurbished Eero device to mesh plus two refurbished DirecTv boxes for my sun room and master bedroom. I'll leave the guest room as ROKU TV. No need to make guests to comfortable as that may encourage them to stay longer. I've grown to like my privacy and doing what and when I like to do things. My daughters are getting on to me to hire a house keeper. I told them I know how to vacuum and clean and that it's my house period. No problems or fits back from them yet. Bachelorhood/Widower is starting to get a little easier as time goes by. I keep busy and socialize when I want too.

I've spent more time in the doctors offices than I care to do but necessary to get my health straightened out. I'm very thankful to have a great medical team to help out.

Have great day!
