[SOLVED] DVD device cannot be mounted

I ve a strange problem with the dvd device of my notebook ( acer travelmate 2041 ). I ve installed the os ( Antix 19 ) from cd without any probs. But when insertig a cd with data or a movie, nothing happens, the device is not recognized and cannot be mounted. I started the notebook with win7 dvd and the the notebook began to start from dvd device, which means that the device must be recognized at least by the bios, but apparently not by the os. What can be the the solution of this prob?

Workaround: open the video player first, then open the DVD device from there.
(for some reason, VLC seems to prefer /dev/dvd although my device is /dev/sr0).
