DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW and DVD+R

What is the difference between a DVD-R, DVD+RW, DVD-RW and DVD+R? Which one should I get if I wanted to burn Playstation 2 copies , Playstation copies, Copy Dvds, and Burn my own Dvds?

Think VHS and Beta, my friend...Except I dont think one format has won yet. Try to look for a drive that supports all those formats, I think maybe Sony or HP do that. As for the technical differences, just search google or let some other, more technically adept member tackle that.

Wow! Are you trying to start a flame-war?
Actually, it's not that bad. DVD-R/RW is the original industry standard for DVD writers. It should play on almost all consumer DVD equipment. DVD+R/RW is a new standard that makes some improvement upon the original. Because it is NOT universally accepted DVD+R/RW plays on a smaller number of consumer devices. Which one you prefer is becoming a moot point as both seem to have stable audiences. Until recently I had not seen DVD+R, just the DVD+RW disks.
As for making "back-up" copies of PS2 games. From what I have heard you should use DVD-R disks. The CHEAPER the better. Yes, you read that right.
I have no personal knowledge of the above. I have just bought a Tdk Indio and had spent some time at http://www.afterdawn.com to learn how best to use it.

hahah thanks and afterdawn is a very nice site ^,^ , just curious i sent my ps2 in for the infamous "disc read error" it's the first playstation 2 model ever made, do you think they modified anything in the factory to prevent me from using the swap method?

Sorry, I can't answer your question because I haven't tried to make back-up copies of my PS2 games yet. I also have very little experience with the PS2 beyond playing games on it. I don't have any "mod-chips" or anything beyond the Sony Linux kit I purchased two years ago.

How's the linux kit? Also I was afraid of using a modchip, so simply I didn't (I used the SWAP method)
