Ubuntu Server

Hi All,

Forgive my ignorance, but I'm truly trying to make the switch to Linux (Ubuntu) and I've just installed Ubuntu server, got the GUI installed (thanks for the help here!). The GUI came up fine, but now for some lame questions:

1. How do I get to the network properties to add my IP info?
2. I don't see the synaptic package manager (to install other apps).

If you're trying to build a workstation this will help.

I would highly reccommend building a workstation and then move to a server build.

Any special reason why your installing the server version? You can always do the default install and add apache, perl, sql, etc.

sudo apt-get install synaptic

Synaptic is just a graphical frontend for apt. You can apt-get any of the packages listed at http://packages.ubuntu.com/ (with the right repositories enabled)
