Blair,
sorry i can't take a look today - i'm swamped with work on a couple of sites - give me a day and i'll post back as to what may be done. sorry, but this is crunch time for 4 websites - promise, help soon.
No rush.
I have been using Ubuntu sans 2 monitors.
My Slack box still works fine to.
I think that conf has to be pretty close.
All monitors come on,but all black. No error message. But, looks like it hangs.
I would love to have a working xorg.conf since I really haven't fully decided which distro will be the "one" for this system. I really like Ubuntu, but I still would love to try Debian proper,Arch, & Slackware 10.1.
I now have 3 monitors working with this xorg.conf.

It shows up as one big desktop acrossed the three monitors.
How would I get it to be 3 seperate desktops?
1- How much memory(ram) need in any pci graphic card for graphical desktop?
2- Pci express graphic card is ok for xfree86 multiuser?
3- If possible for you plz tell me easy way step by step.
1. I am not sure how much ram memory you need for gui desktop. I am running 3 cards and I have 512md PC2700 ram.
2. PCI express should not matter as fas as multi-user goes.
3. Step by step...Are you using ubuntu? What are your specs?(vid card, monitor, distro, etc...)Post your current xorg.conf.
Well, I'm tring to set up a multihead monitor in Kubuntu. I feel like I'm so close, yet so far. I've gotten each monitor to show a different desktop. The only problem is that I can only manipulate one. I can influence the desktop on the other monitor by going into my Home directory and dragging files into a folder that was created called "Desktop1". I'm a linux noob (This is my first full day trying to get it working) so sorry if I've done something incredibly stupid, don't hurt me.
Anyway, my xorg.conf file is as follows.
Code:
# /etc/X11/xorg.conf (xorg X Window System server configuration file)
#
# This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
# values from the debconf database.
#
# Edit this file with caution, and see the /etc/X11/xorg.conf manual page.

# cp /etc/X11/xorg.conf /etc/X11/xorg.conf.custom
# sudo sh -c 'md5sum /etc/X11/xorg.conf >/var/lib/xfree86/xorg.conf.md5sum'
# sudo dpkg-reconfigure xserver-xorg

Any help would be much appreciated. This is one of those features that I can't live without.
I've gotten one big desktop. Before I fixed my typo though, I seemed to have two completely independant desktops. The problem was that I couldn't figure out how to switch to the second one.
I haven't tried to get the 3D working (I'm sort of assuming it won't). When I do I'll try and post my experiance.
I have the following hardware and would like multiple monitor in ubuntu or ...
I think i must connect all hardware(vga, key, mouse) to my system and install ubuntu then config xorg file, but not sure. If possible for you plz help me step by step
