ltmodem problem : No Carrier

I have ubuntu dapper installed on my PC and i've also installed ltmodem drivers. I'm using Kubuntu and when i connected using KPPP all went well. i could hear the modem dialing but in the end i was disconnected with the message "No Carrier".
Plz tell me how to correct this error.
