Although I don't use KDE4, KDE4 wins in general appearance with the exception of e17 of course.
It's not that competing desktops can't look as good or better. KDE4 just seems to make the process of creating great looking desktops easier and faster.
KDE4 just looks nice. The development team deserves the kudos!
~sHyLoCk~: what system monitoring aplet You are using? Looks geek
And here is my desktop.
KDE 4.2, compiz+emerald, modified SysOtoMonitor from SuperKaramba repository at kdelook.org, LWP plasmoid and file change monitoring plasmoids with some system-logs

No system monitoring applet, all I'm using is a conky. Yeah it is geeky, but not as geeky as the one I had posted in the ubuntu forums It was openbox with 3 different conkies , one left, one right and one below, and in the middle a transparent embedded urxvt.
Been a long time since I posted here. Thought I would show off my Slackware 13-32.
Dave
That's very stylish! What is the feature or whatever that gives the neato 3-D taskbar at the bottom?
Unfortunately for me, using Xinerama disallows me to use some of the cool stuff, such as KDE Plasma effects. I gotta look into more ways of multi-monitor usage. I don't want compiz-fusion, but I would like a little more style!
