I'm currently playing around with the idea of making my own distro (for personal use) based on slackware, but I have a few questions first and was hoping some of you other slackers can help answer them.
Slackware, is the distro I use on my desktop and I simply love it.
Now my questions are: Since Pat provides all of the source code for slackware, freely available off of a slackware mirror, along with the .Slackbuilds, would it be possible to just download a base system and compile it, place my selection of preferred apps ontop of it and then repackage it in an iso for easy installs?
My plan (goal) is make a desktop only version of slackware, based on the 2.6 kernel.
I'm not afraid of doing a lot of work.
If anyone can help, or even point me to a few helpful websites or if this has been answered before somewhere else, I would be very thankful.
MAybe you could have a look at www.collegelinux.org . It seems they are working on a new version. I don't see the advantage of another Slackware based distro. But that's only my opinion.
