slackware 10 "live" cd (disk 2)

I tried booting Slackware 10 disc 2 but failed. it loaded until "Ramdisk Compressed Image found at Position 0" and then stopped. strgaltentf rebooting worked. I tried all kernels the cd had to offer without success. What is this?

Sounds like a faulty initrd or corrupt burn. Will the same machine boot CD1? did you burn your own oder?

I didn't try disc one, but since I have three PCs at hand I tried all of them and on one it actually worked . So I don't think it's a faulty burn, but I'll try the first disc and post the results...

Had an almost similar weird problem before. My slackCd2 worked normally for one of the pcs with two cd drives. But it only worked on my normal cd drive, when I rebooted using the cd-rw drive, it wouldn't boot. Tried other liveCDs using the cdrw and they worked fine.

read up on 'floppy emulation' and 'el torito' to really understand why this happens.

just google for it. it has to do with how CD's boot, by emulating a floppy drive. el torito is a new standard and some old drives won't work with it.
