Slackware 9.1 - "hd* : attached ide-disk driver"

Okay guys here´s the pickle. I´m trying to install Slackware 9.1 (must be a surprise). I naturally try booting the instalation from the CD when "boot:" comes up I naturally press enter 'cause bare.i kernel is probably ok for me, I'm going to compile 2.6 when I first get the thing installed. Well after I press enter it starts to load kernel and when it starts recognising the hard-drives, it jams on line "hd* : attached ide-disk driver". Well, I naturally asumed it´s because of my Serial-ata drives (I´m trying to install on ordinary P-ATA -drive, not on serial-ata drive) so I dissconnected the Serial-ata drives and tried again. Well this time all the hard-drives are recognised neatly and the "hd* : attached ide-disk driver" line swoops by them neatly, but now it jams on the line "hd* : attached ide-cdrom driver", and thats where it doesnt go forward.

I tried to dissconnect all my harddrives and try again, no luck. I tried both my dvd-rom and dvd-rw, no luck. I tried my old hp8200 cd-burner , no luck.

so, what do I do? I´d normaly figure this out by myself and with help of my old friend google. But, I´ve tried to install slackware about a week now .. trying diffrent variations, but seems to me that it always jams on cd/dvd-rom.

I know theres someone who can help me, I mean this is growing to be really irritating and brain wrecking.. I know someone has had that same problem, so come on people, little help here.

My motherboard is Asus P4P800 Deluxe and I think the chipset is supported :P so I doubt that it isn´t that.

Oh yeah, one more thing, Mandrake 9.2 and Red Hat 9 instalation starts smoothly without any problems (and no, I wont install them). I apologize for possible typos and little anxious text, but I really need some help here.

try using the install floppies. grab the /bottdisks/bare.i/bare.i boot disk and /rootdisks/install.1 and install.2
use rawrite or dd to write the images to floppy, then boot with bare.i and foloow with the other two. setup should then pickup your cdrom or maybe dvd drive. you may have better luck with the hp CDRW
