I have Slackware 11 installed and this is the lone OS on this machine.
1. I want to remove LILO Boot manager so that the time to boot up is reduced.
2. At boot time my computer presents, after entering LILO, some resolutions for selection or
wait 30 seconds. What is this? How can I avoid these 30 seconds wait? Can not I make is some
default setting which auto gets selcted and never asks me again?
3. Sendmail takes about one minute to start. Is it normal? If not, how can I reduce the time
taken by Sendmail to start?
Hello,
You can edit: /etc/lilo.conf and change: timeout = 100 or less, you can also copy/paste the 'linux' section to the top, so it will load that os by default, or change label = Slackware.
Another one is like is: menu-scheme=Wb
Take a look at: man lilo.conf for more goodies
Just a reminder: always run /sbin/lilo after making changes to lilo.conf
Don't add your name as nasa.mil or google.com, because it checks nameservers if it's right. If you don't need it, you can chmod -x /etc/rc.d/rc.sendmail
