well, get a DOS boot disk with dos fdisk and run fdisk /mbr to erase you master boot record and delete lilo?
p.s. not to pry or anything what is your purpose for doing this?

I need to repartition the hard drive to devote more bytes to my linux partition. I want to reinstall everything from scratch.

# lilo -u
or
# lilo -U

Tried the bitmap option of lilo ?
bitmap=/usr/doc/lilo-22.5.7.2/sample/logo64a.bmp

Cool, but uncommet those (message=, menu-title=, menu-scheme=) on /etc/lilo.conf first. Only it caused a little bit slower booting on my amd350 machine ..
