Modules load unexpectedly upon restart

Hello,

I'm a linux newbie trying to configure Mandriva on my Toshiba M45-S331 laptop. The wireless and ethernet have issues. I have noticed that at boot sometimes my wireless module , ipw2200, is successfully loaded and sometimes it isn't. One time, I was able to scan APs using my wireless card and access the Internet through my ethernet card. But, Mandriva hanged and things haven't worked after. I think I might have a hardware conflict, but I'm not sure how to resolve it. The reason I believe it's a hardware problem is because at boot, I have noticed a message saying that IRQ 11 has been disabled. I know that IRQ 11 is tied to my ethernet, wireless, and firewire ports along with some other usb ports. What can I do?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

In the bios, be sure that these irq's are managed by the bios and also be sure that plug n play os is turned off.

Thank you for the input. How can I make sure that the IRQs are managed by the BIOS?

There should be a section that gives a choice of irq assignment, either auto or a set irq number. I would set them if this is a persistent problem. But first, leave them on auto and turn off plug n play.
