Mandrake 10.1 & Skype problem

Hey Guys I may have spoke to soon about Mandrake 10.1 Community but I developed a problem with Skype (messenger), it worked great in the past, but suddenly I can no longer use the voice communication part.

If I try to connect through voice, by clicking on the green telelphone icon (which makes it ring) it tells me that I have a "bad sound device" when I try to answer someone that is trying to ring me. I then check Kmix and my alsa mixer and I do not see anything out of the norm or to be wrong or improperly set.

If I go to options>>>port>>>> inside with my other PC that has Mandrake 10.0 installed on it, it says my port # is 59293 and when I check 10.1 it said port 37227. Well I do not know if that makes any difference at all, but I have tried to change and that did not work either.

I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling Skype and nothing seems to works. I can use the instant message on it and it works OK, but if someone trys to ring me, it tells me I have a "bad sound device", and the call ultimately fails

At this point I am not sure what else I can do, other than doing a complete
reinstall of my enitre Mandrake 10.1 operating system. I can only assume there is some sort of bug that has affected my sound driver that works with Skype, but I am not sure if it's worth going through all that trouble of reinstalling the entire operating system..

Any suggestions?

Skype problem resolved

My sound was set under Advanced Linux Sound Architecture (ALSA) and not Open Sound System (OSS), so I left it on ALSA,

I did notice that Full Duplex was checked, so I unchecked it and that resolved my problem. I was able to click on the green phone activate voice conversation and answer and talk as well.

Skype has their open "help" forum board for Linux users and below is the thread. You may have to register on-line in order to view it.

The key solution for my problem was to uncheck the full duplex mode in my sound settings inside kdesu konqueror control center.
