Thank you for returning the feature. Personally, it motivates me to do a better job, here. It's a small cost for those who don't like it and a big benefit for those of us who do; otherwise you're just going to have to start sending those big checks out, again. I'm amazed (as I'm sure some of you are) that over 70 people thought to take the time to say thank you to some of my posts.

To be honest, my problem wasn't with the "Thanks" system as a whole, but the original icon stuck out like a sore thumb (pardon the pun) and seemingly caused a lot of confusion. It definitely looks much better now, fits with the site much better, and is more descriptive of it's intended use.
Now we need to decide where to place the names of those who thanked me...
Well, I think it looks good. The fact that it actually says "Thanks" makes it a bit more noticeable. I definitely see it as an improvement of the old version.
Although, I do have two suggestions. Perhaps say on the button "Thank this poster" ... this makes it fairly easy for anyone to quickly see it.
Also, the hover text on the button could give a bit more detailed description of what pressing the button does, instead of just "Thanks"
I like to use “Thanks” button and I liked to see who thanked to whom for what. My personal statistics isn’t sufficient because it tells me merely about my posts thanked by other users and about other user’s posts thanked by me. I don’t like the present anonymous “Thanks”. The previous version was much more better. It was easy to estimate which posts are the more valuable.
As for “Did you find this post helpful?” feature I don’t use it at all. From my point of view it’s redundant at the moment. That feature is anonymous too. I think it’d be nice to see who replied to that question “Yes” or “No”. It’d be also nice to see “Useful” and “Useless” statistics similar to the present “Thanked” in such manner:
Instead of wordy question “Did you find this post helpful? Yes | No” better would be two large buttons such as: “This post is useful” and “This post is useless”.
Both „Thanked” and „Useful/Useless” features are in my opinion redundant. So I suggest to remove one and leave the other. My vote goes to stay with not anonymous “Thanks”.
Finally I think good post can be good longer than one year. So in my opinion “Thanks” and/or “Did you find this post helpful?” feature should be accessible for all posts regardless of their age.
There are times when I am a part of a discussion but I didn't start the thread, at that time if I appreciate some one's post I do always click thanks.
But how is that member supposed to know who clicked his thanks button and if that person is not going to know any way that I officially thanked him, then sometimes I think what's the point of my clicking thanks for him (any way he is not going to know it) ?
Moreover I don't like telling him in the follow up post that it was I who clicked your thanks
And it is true in my case also, I can just guess a who thanked me, it may not be always the original poster. And I would appreciate the OP rather than some fly by member thanking me.
+1 for showing the name of the person who clicked thanks button.
Moreover this name showing thanks option can be made -------- Enabled / Disabled.
If some one doesn't like it he may choose to keep it disabled !

I am a big user of this feature. I feel that mine is a representation of my will and a show of pride for my meager intellect. I always thank anyone who truly helps me, as I think that this is a good way to officially thank them and show them that I care to thank them for their kind service. Showing the names of people who thanked them is nice because it allows for recognition of each party, because it shows the person being helped found this post to be worthy of thanks, and it shows the person who helped actually helped.
A side-note, it would be really cool if some sort of incentive was offered when a member reached xx thanks, perhaps a small icon under their username or an addition to their member status.

Rep:
I observed LinuxQuestions.org members behavior for last two weeks and I stated they are now much less eager in “Thanks” button usage than they were when an information about who thanks to whom and for what was available. “Did you find this post helpful?” option isn’t used too ardent as well – perhaps because the announcements such as: “1 out of 1 members found this post helpful” aren’t distinguished enough. In my opinion “Thanks” button and “Did you find this post helpful?” option steal votes one from another. There is no clear difference between the purposes of both these tools so many LQ members use them in inconsistent way or simply ignore one of them or both. As I stated above I use exclusively “Thanks” button because I was accustomed to it when “Did you find this post helpful?” option appeared. As I guess some other LQ members use exclusively “Did you find this post helpful?” option.
