I just clicked the thanks button on a couple posts in LQSEC and noticed that the "thanked by" (or maybe it was something like "the following users say thanks" (or similar)) text thing doesn't appear, even though the thank count for the poster does increase. Is this a bug related to the recent implementation of the "Did you find this post helpful" feature?
Good question. You did refresh the page and it still didn't show up?
Yes, I did. FWIW, I just hit the thanks button on your post here in this thread, and the same problem occurs. In other words, I saw your thanked count increase by one when I clicked, yet I don't appear below your post as one of the members that thanked you. Can you confirm this by doing the same with my post here?
1. You don't know which post of yours was appreciated.
2. You cannot remove your 'thanks' (Not that I'd ever do it)
I did notice this, but what is the harm if u know which post of yours was appreciated. I think if someone has given 5 responses, it is a feel-good factor for him to know and think "Oh ! This is the answer that helped the original poster a lot".
It will be more helpfull if jeremy decides to change the blue thumb to something more intuitive like a "thank you" button.

The "thanks box" has been disabled due to ongoing testing and feedback. You can still see which of your posts were thanked in the Statistics tab of your UserCP. We're still looking for additional feedback on the functionality. Thanks.

Maybe, but there's also practical reasons why it's good to know when someone's post has received thanks (and from whom).

We're gonna get it back, though - right?
I ask because IMHO there's no substitute for having this information below each post. Keep in mind I'm referring to other people's posts, not my own. In other words, my interest isn't in seeing who's thanked me for my posts, but rather which posts in any given thread I'm reading have received thanks, and more importantly, from whom they've received thanks. This information is valuable, as it can contribute to a better understanding of the underlying dynamics of the ongoing discussion.
That'll be largely based on feedback. Keep in mind that the Thanks system is currently a BETA feature that be or may not be kept long term.
Understood, but any chance you could restore the complete functionality of the Thanks system while it's being beta-tested? This would make for more valid feedback, since under the current conditions we're beta-testing something which has a significant chunk of functionality missing (which wasn't the case until recently).

There's really no defined "complete functionality" at this time. Far more members seemed to *dislike* the box being there. With the addition of the "Did you find this post helpful" functionality, we're testing some changes to the thanks system. It's quite possible more members will actually like the system more in its current incarnation. As always, I'm open to additional feedback on the topic.

Well, I'll admit I thought it was ugly as hell at first. But after a while, it kinda grew on me. Plus, the usefulness of it more than made up for any cosmetic issues.

Cool. FWIW, my personal view is that without the box listing the users who thanked below each post, this feature is almost pointless. IMHO, what we're left with is essentially a "thanks counter", which has no real value within actual ongoing discussions. At least, no value that can be compared to the ability to make quick connections between posts and the members expressing gratitude for them. Honestly, if I had to choose between what we've got now and complete removal, I'd choose complete removal. The current thanks system configuration feels awkwardly restrictive to me (relative to how it was up until a few days ago).
