Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:68.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/68.0.
Aha! So it's not being read correctly. Now here is what I have in my general.useragent.overridepreference string (as shown in about:config):
Slackware/Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64;rv68.4) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/68.4
oops now I am seeing that little daemon in my last post up there, because I am in FreeBSD right now.
it is like i have to leave and come back when this has figured it out. because this post has that ? question mark still, immediately after I post.
edit:
Refresh did it, It seems to be that it sees what OS it is running, but it needs a refresh for me to see mine. Let me bounce into Slack and check my post now.
edit:
In slack now, and beastie is showing, it must record what OS I was in when I posted, and not what is running at the time of just being in here?
I never really paid any atteti0n to this until this thread.

Explanations?
"overridepreference" is not what you need to be tweaking in about:config.
Read THIS post and follow the directions in the "how-to" and it should work for you.
NOTE: pay attention to this part particularly:
Quote:
To create the preference, right-click on the about:config page, point to New,
and select String.
Name the preference "general.useragent.override".
Enter your desired user agent [ Mine is: Mozilla/5.0 (X11;Slackware Linux x86_64;
rv:68.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/68.0 ] as the value of the preference.
And also NOTE: The new icon will ONLY appear on newly-created posts or existing posts that you edit. You might have to refresh the page a couple times occasionally to see the proper icon.
I must have got that variable name from somewhere in this thread. I couldn't have made it up! OK, I'll try again.
Right. This time that agent-reporting site gets it right (Mozilla/5.0 (X11;Slackware Linux x86_64; rv:68.4) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/68.4), which is encouraging. Let's see if LQ does. I've logged out and in again to clear my cookies as well as restarting FF.
