and then to the whole restart nmbd and smbd and lets see if that solves the automatic issue. are you having any problems seeing the shares when you connect to the samba server?
Nah .. when I connect using \\192.168.2.150 it works just fine. Restarted teh service, still not visible. I tired net view, and it cant see it in that either.
yeah, that way does work. If stupid gates could hop on the linx band wagon.. there wouldnt be any compatibility issues. For now it works but I need something that will allow me to have security. I guess Ill just have to use this unitl good ole version 3 comes out. Thanks man. You have been extremely helpful.

i was having a similar problem. M$ was not detecting the samba server beacause: the logon.bat (dos formatted) file was misssing from /usr/bin/?/? ... or the path to the logn.bat deliniated in smb.conf was erroneous. this was my deal.
