VMWare and Activesync 4.2 issue

VMWare machine running Windows XP SP2. When I connect my Motorola Q, Activesync refuses to see the device, even though I can clearly see it in the hardware manager of XP. It seems to go in and out in a flashing effect. Maybe this is a problem with VMWare?

Any ideas as to why this is? I know that it's not the phone, and it's not the cord, as I checked at a Verizon store last night.

Thanks,

Fegenbush

Same here

Same problem. Simply does the USB Connect/Disconnect tones back to back.

Using same connection/config on a native XP laptop doesn't have the problem.

Running:
VMware Server 1.0.4 build-56528
Running on OpenSUSE 10.2 OR Ubuntu 7.10
XP Pro SP2 w/ ActiveSync Loaded
Motorola Q ("original" Q?)

Lightbulb

Only good news is that I was able to get WM5storage on there (using native XP on an old laptop).

And now the Linux Host OS recognizes the SD Card so I can move files back and forth ... which is basically what I wanted to do; didn't really have to use anything more from ActiveSync ... yet.

Would still like to get this resolved though
