Question activesync @ linux?

hi all,

I have an Ipaq 1940 PocketPC PDA. Currently I'm using MS activesync to sync my data between handheld and my laptop (OS win XP). I'm going install Slackware 10 in my laptop, but I wonder if I can sync my handheld as easily in Linux as in Windows?? I heard SynCE can sync Win CE based PDA with Linux, but how if I want to install a program to the handheld? Can SynCE do that too?

Thanks for ur response.

I also have an ipaq1940. When I set up communication between the ipaq and my linux desktop, I used both SynCE and a program called Multisync - both available from the sourceforge website.

Installation programs for the ipaq are windows executable files, so you may find yourself having difficulty there. I tried using the Wine project (a windows emulator for linux) however I was unable to achieve satisfactory results and gave up rather quickly. Not to say it isn't possible, however I felt it a waste of my time (easier to boot into windows and install). Synce comes with some software that can supposedly extract the .CAB files from the installation programs for the ipaq, I was unable to make those work either.

Perhaps your will have more patience and interest in making it work though ! good luck.
