How to get apps to start when Xorg starts?

Hi, I have been struggling to find a way to get a few of my favorite apps to start when Xorg starts.

Predominantly I have focused on the .ixinitrc and .xsession files in my home directory - as these apps need to be started *after* X has started and a Window manager has been loaded.

To this end I made a .xsession file and symlinked .ixinitrc to it. My .xsession file is formated with the following syntax:

Code:
fluxbox
idesk &
vncserver &
gkrellm
There is nothing currently else in this file at all.

But (perhaps unsurprisingly to some) this didn't work. Fluxbox starts - but nothing else does - although I can start them all from the command line.

The question is therefore, where did I go wrong and how do I fix it?

Besrt regards,

GJ

Just need a & after fluxbox

fluxbox &
idesk &
vncserver &
gkrellm

otherwise the rest of the programs will not run until fluxbox closes, which of course is too late. Interesting point to note about .xsession, when the last program in the script terminates so does Xwindows. So keep that in mind. For example if you kill the program gkrellm your entire Xwindows session will end.
