GAIM Linux much better than Windows?

Curious.

Is GAIM (http://gaim.sf.net/) on Linux much better than it is on Windows?

Thanks.

The Linux versions of GAIM work far better on Linux than they do on Windows. Conversely, the Windows version work much better on Windows than they do on Linux.

What do you mean by "better"? They both do IM.

hehe k. I should've made myself more clear.

I find that there are sometimes problems with GAIM on Windows. I read this is because that GTK doesn't work too well on Windows; while it is very stable on Linux.

So basically, does it run how it should? (Eg: very stable, with all features working properly, etc.)

I don't use Gaim at all. But I have had no problems with GTK on Windows - Gimp and GKrellM ran and do run fine on my win box.

well yes as it's primarily a linux program, it's as complete as it could be. Personally i've not had any problems with the win32 version either though.

my only issue with gAIM on RH9 is the way it will lock up my sound card and force me to reboot my system to free it up. very annoying.

other then that i love the fact that AOL is not near my computer, nor is any of their spyware/adware coming over the net due to aim.

if it were not for gAIM i would not have my aim account active again.
