Hi all,
I'm running Fedora Core 2 with the 2.6.5 kernel. It works fine for the most part, except that lately GAIM has started literally disappearing on me. It doesn't cause an error (at least, not one that I can find any output from); it doesn't look like it crashes or anything; it doesn't screw anything else up - it just completely disappears (it isn't still running). I can restart it and log back in without any trouble, but this is extremely annoying. It seems to happen very often when I receive messages from MSN contacts, but sometimes it just happens when I'm not really doing anything.
I had this happen to me a couple of months ago - it seemed that every time I disconnected from the internet, Gaim would crash. I have since upgraded to the latest version, and it seems to have fixed the problem. What version are you using? (Help->About)
Also, try running it from a terminal (type gaim in a terminal window) - that way you will see the error message just before it crashes - if it's the same problem as I had, the error was something like 'Broken pipe'. If you run it by clicking an icon, then you will not see this error.
I was running v0.77 so I upgraded to v80 - hopefully that will solve the problem; if not I'll try running it from the console and I'll post any output from the error.
