Disappearing sources

Is it necessary to follow the book in one go? Having created /mnt/lfs/sources and downloaded them there, they appear to have gone. As has /mnt/lfs/sources and /mnt/lfs/tools. Am I missing something?

Hello,

What do you mean... When you remount your LFS partition in /mnt/lfs, sources and tools directory are gone... quite strange if it really happens

I can't mount it without an entry in fstab so I suppose I need to do that. I don't like just following instructions like this book, but I thought I'd give it a go.

you can mount it without an entry in fstab for example, as root:
Code:
mount -t ext3 /dev/hda5 /mnt/lfs

Yes but you have to, to learn and understand how it works... Then you'll be able to do it all by yourself
