ati drivers


i am running fc4 with gnome. on a copy of the same program for windows and linux, on windows it ran at 580fps, on linux it ran at 8fps. i was told i should get the ati drivers, how do i go about doing this?

sorry for this rather newb-ish question, any help would be greatly appreciated.

ok igot the drivers but i am told i need to change Direct Rendering changed to yes. i am running xorg, how do i do this?
