Question --> ATi 3.2.8 Drivers <--

Now i got the new 3.7.6 ATi Drivers from the website. I installed everything correctly. But as being ATi it doesnt work. Now this is the tricky part.

It seams as if my drivers do have OpenGL support:

$ glxinfo |grep render
direct rendering: Yes
GLX_ATI_render_texture
OpenGL renderer string: RADEON 9700 Generic

But why cant i get above 20fps in ut2004? Iv noticed other people have had the same problem and they recommend the 3.2.8 drivers.

Specs:
1.8ghz
386DDR
9500pro [Flashed Bios for overclocking]
running Mandrake 10.0 on kernel 2.6

Now i have looked ALL over the INTERNET to find these here 3.2.8 ATi Drivers. Although I CANNOT find them. Can someone PLEASE give me a link to a website containg these 3.2.8 ATi Drivers. Also can you tell me if you get the same problem with these drivers.

here you will find them. You can also try drivers 3.7.0. They used to work pretty good with my old Radeon 9500 (3.7.6 are crap).

i get the error
$ rpm -Ui --force drivers.rpm
error: Failed dependencies:
XFree86 >= 4.3.0 is needed by fireglrx-4.3.0_3.2.8-6

when installing the 3.2.8 drivers

whats the problem, i run XFree86 4.3.0.1
is that 0.1 a problem?

any way to force it to work?
should i install 4.3.0

Ok, you have XFree86 4.3 installed,

What is the exact problem now?
are you unable to install the drivers with
rpm -ivh --force drivers.rpm

if yes please report error - message

you should also first deinstall your old ati drivers:
rpm -e olddrivers.rpm

check for existing with
rpm -qa | grep fgl
rpm -qa | grep fire

Have you installed the correct source code of your Kernel?

if the drivers installed correctly with no error message, then
please post what

glxinfo says
and your XF86-Config4

Would help alot

mmmmmmmm, have you applied also the kernel patch for the ATi drivers?? If that does not work either, maybe you want to run rpm -Ui --force --nodeps <filename> and see if it works or not....But i think is a bit risky

Ok Tama,

you have installed XFree 4.3 and the driver still says
error: Failed dependencies:
XFree86 >= 4.3.0 is needed by fireglrx-4.3.0_3.2.8-6
that's strange.

you could try

rpm -ihv --force --nodep fireglrx-4.3.0_3.2.8-6.i586.rpm

this should ignore the dependencies and install, but please do at own risk, never tried this.

Let me know if it worked.

Good luck!
