Trouble with NIC

I just installed RedHat 9 (but I only have disks for an older version of the kernel) on my new D800, but I'm having problems with the network card (I have a Broadcom 570x). When I try to add my network card I get an error involving the file 3c501.o. Can I just update this file to fix the issue, and if so where can I find an updated file? Thanks much.

what is the error, and also, after trying to load it type dmesg in a terminal and see what it sais at the bottom

Have had same problem with my NIC. Downloaded Broadcom 5702 driver, compiled it and now use bcm5700.o as a module. Other modules like 3C501.o didn't work. Don't know if your NIC chipset is on board, mine is. (ASUS P4G8X) Good luck!
