I already have network browsing on my desktop, when i click it it shows the two icons SLP and Windows Network but if i select windows network it returns saying that there are no workgroups on the network?
If you finally solve the problem, let me know; I have exactly the same issue: I can see the Linux machine from XP (inside my MSHOME workgroup), but when I click on it there is no access.
Both machines can ping each other.
At the Linux suse 9.2 side I can also see the Windows icon, but after clicking on it it says that tere are no other workgroups available.

Do you have readed my posting (before yours) ? I have had the same problem too. And I posted my solution. Do you have tested this? It is my recommendation to do this first.
Now I wont post it again.
I tried and thought that it didn't work, but now I rebooted the system after the "no firewall" and then it started working.
I can access even my XP based printer from the Suse 9.2 tool.
# mount -t smbfs //stue/stue /mnt/windows/
10432: Connection to stue failed
SMB connection failed
I see you've found out it is some firewall stuff, but I don't realy want to disable all firewall stuff. Have you any ideas of what parts of the firewall which I need to unlock?
Ping and smbclient works well as for The_Landlord.
I thought I didn't have any luck with samba and all that, but without dropping my firewall I learned that you can still access WinXP from SuSE using 'smb://[WinXP IP address]' in konqueror
I am probably too new to be of much help, but I had this problem too, and i still wanted to run my firewall, so I went into YaST, and configed the firewall, adding 'UDP 137' when I got to the 'Expert' button, and now I see the whole network neighborhood. Hope this may help you.
