glib problem

I'm trying to install an applet for lm_sensors, and I'm getting the error:

"configure: error: Package requirements (glib-2.0 >= 2.6.0) were not met:

Consider adjusting the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable if you
installed software in a non-standard prefix.

Alternatively, you may set the environment variables GLIB_CFLAGS
and GLIB_LIBS to avoid the need to call pkg-config.
See the pkg-config man page for more details."

So, I just downloaded and installed glib 2.13.0 and I still get the same error. I don't know if it's just not in the right spot or what...

Red Hat Enterprise 4. Im still really new at this, but I just found my way here: http://ftp.gnome.org/pub/GNOME/sources/glib/2.13/ and downloaded glib-2.13.0.tar.gz

Did you try to install it using yum? I would think that the package should be in RHEL repo.

For compiling from source you will most likely need package glib-devel.

Try as root:
Code:
yum install glib-devel

Yeah, the yum command isn't found, but what I did was the tar command, then I did ./configure, then make and make install and it seems to have worked fine, but when I try to install the lm_sensors applet, the ./configure says:

checking for GLIB... Requested 'glib-2.0 >= 2.6.0' but version of GLib is 2.4.7
configure: error: Package requirements (glib-2.0 >= 2.6.0) were not met:

So I figured that I need to change a file somewhere for it to point to the one I just installed (2.13.0)
