Question Debian DST Update

This newbie has gotten confused re updating the timezone info for the new DST rules. I'm using Debian. Using "apt-get install tzdata" I get the msg that it couldn't find the tzdata package.

I previously ran "apt-get update." Do I just need to update my /etc/apt/sources.list for a new location? Or is there a different lib entirely I should be working with?

Thanks for any help...

What version of Debian are you using?

You can try downloading the latest tzdata from packages.debian.org in the Unstable version, and install it using dpkg.

I hope this helps

Our Debian release/version is:

2.4.27-2-386 #1 Mon May 16 16:47:51 JST 2005

The sites in /etc/apt/sources.list are :

deb ftp://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ stable main
deb-src ftp://ftp.us.debian.org/debian/ stable main
deb http://security.debian.org/ stable/updates main

Has anyone used apt-get to update for the DST change? Something about installing from a version called "Unstable" bothers me, but perhaps I don't understand the term as used.

Smile apt-get Solution

Finally. It turns out for me, after doing

apt-get update

then all it takes is

apt-get install libc6

Anyone know of any problems I've glossed over?
