Another one of those dreaded distro questions with a twist

I have finally a new system, self-chosen, self-built. No more Pentium 1 233, no sirr!

Windows XP is installed and has to stay (Half Life 2 etc) but I want Linux on it for work (XP for play). Now my question. Which distro is the easiest to co-exist with XP? I wanted Suse 9.1 but all I hear about a dual installation seems nuts. I want to assign some hd space to linux, install it, done. Any suggestions?
Oh, there is no twist, sorry.

please use a better thread title next time.

and any modern distro will co-exit just fine. after all, it's only the bootloader you use thatwill have naything to do with accessing windows.
