Question TightVNC Server died after overnight

Dear All,

I have a peculiar problem that my Tight VNC Server session will die off if I leave it running overnight

I am using TightVNC Server 1.2.7-1 (rpm version) running on RedHat Linux 9.0

I use the following command to start the user session :-

su - username -c "vncserver -geometry 800x600 -depth 16 :displaynumber"

I then use a windows pc running tightvnc client to access.

However if I leave the server running overnight, the following day I can't access it anymore!

I did a "ps -ef|grep Xvnc" and found nothing !

I have even commented out the "rfbwait -120000" line in the /usr/bin/vncserver script

Please help as I urgently need to use the server.

Thank you

Are you using Gnome or KDE? You might use KDE's desktop sharing...your TightVNC client on windows will be able to view your KDE desktop with that.

Short of that, you might have to have something check that service so you know when and why it goes down...

Sorry, I am using Gnome.

The strange thing is I started a few vncserver server process for a few users. Only a few processes dies, NOT all !!

When I did the ps -ef|grep Xvnc , for those user process which is still running I can see the rfbwait parameter no longer there

Any ideas, anyone ?
