Hi first of all sorry if this question has already been asked. I found quite a few similar questions but none with answers that help me at present.

My Problem
I am running Mandrake 10.1 and have installed tightvnc without much problem. I want to connect to the vnc server from a win xp machine on the same Lan.

I can ping the Linux box from XP and vice versa.
I can connect to the vncserver from the linux box using localhost:1 and/or 127.0.0.1:1

I cant connect to the vncserver using 192.168.2.2:1 from either the remote XP machine or on the Linux box itself.

Do I need to bind the VNC server to this ip address? Or should it automaticaly be available on all interfaces?

OK I have it

Problem solved by adding relative addresses to /etc/hosts.allow file
