proftpd

Ok..I have given up on vsftpd....and I am trying proftpd.
I am pretty close to having it working but not quite.
I am pretty sure that my config file is the problem and was wondering if someone could tell me what I am doing wrong.

I am trying to set it up so that I can ftp with a username into my home/username directory. I want to be able to upload and download.
Currently, I can log in and get dumped into the appropriate directory. I just can't write/upload; I get a "550 permission denied" error. I can download just fine. I have tried several different things script wise to get this to start working but nothing has worked. Could someone please help...??? Please.

Here is my proftpd.conf file.
Thanks in Advance for any help.

proftpd.conf

# 'proftpd.conf' for actual use. It establishes a single server

*always make a backup of your original config files! cp /etc/proftpd.conf /etc/proftpd.conf.orig!!!*

delete or comment out '#' the entire <anonymous> section.

and i noticed you also seem to have a duplicate section:

# To cause every FTP user to be "jailed" (chrooted) into their home
# directory, uncomment this line.
#DefaultRoot ~

# Normally, we want files to be overwriteable.
AllowOverwrite on

# To cause every FTP user to be "jailed" (chrooted) into their home
# directory, uncomment this line.
#DefaultRoot ~

# Normally, we want files to be overwriteable.
AllowOverwrite on

remove one of the duplicates, and then, uncomment the defaultroot~ command.

give that a shot. let me know if it works for you.

Thanks so much for the reply !

I had already commented the entire anon section but it made no difference.
I'll post this for those that might run into this problem also

It turns out the the answer was not in the config itself but in the directory and file permissions.
I did a "chmod 777 /home"(for example) to the directories I was trying to write to and it solved my STOR error.
