Disabling the chroot in proftpd and enabling root logins on ssh/proftpd

I need to disable the chroot proftpd ensues on it's users, I'm not exactly sure which line in the config file does that.

I also need to be able to log in as root in ssh and proftpd ... there's a config file in linux that has users that can't be logged in remotely, I'm not sure where it's located though.

Yes I know of the risks involved in remote root login, but the risk isn't an issue since this is a home server and it's isolated from the internet.

I believe the directive you want is "DefaultRoot" which is probably set to "~". Just remove that whole line and it should stop chrooting... I think.

Personally I think if you're able to use Samba, then you don't really need to mess with FTP for transfer of files across a LAN. You can just drag and drop them using windows file explorer.
