I am trying to help a friend whose Acer died under Vista with 'Boot Manager Missing' tried all that is available on the Net Alt + F11, Alt + F10 etc to no avail.

Tried to load ubuntu 12.4.2 same results as trying to load windows 'Boot Manager Missing'

I have SpotMau Power Suite 2009
Hiren's Multi Boot Recovery & Bootable CD
Winternals 2003

Can't use any the same message appears

I thought ubuntu would be successful and we would be able to read the data - the only reason for not formatting the HD

Help :-(

Check you have a boot flag set on one of the primary partitions (even the Ubuntu one)- some BIOS check for it, even though grub ignores it.
