XFX Gforce 8500 GT driver problem

I just recently installed fedora 8 and cant get the driver installed.I've tried three times.The first time I tried, I downloaded NVIDIA-Linux-x86_64-100.14.19-pkg2.run from the nvidia website than i tried to install there fx driver the same way and also through the yum installer.Each effort has left me with the same issue installation of the driver goes fine but during bootup the screen goes blank and nothing responds.any help or advice you could give would be appreciated.

I don't know how it works in Fedora, but in Suse 9.3, even though installation goes well, I still have to configure the graphics card to use it, then it works.

How do I configure the card itself?Im not sure what you mean.
