what driver to use for xfx 7100gs
I am new to Fedora 7 (COMPLETELY NEW TO LINUX)
Pls someone help me
1. I am not able to understand what driver to use for the xfx 7100gs (pvt72vwang) that i have with me on my pc for fedora 7 i have tried many drivers from nvidia's site but failed.
2. The driver i put asks me to update my kernel as it is not able to find the proper kernel, it tries to update the kernel but fails, so asks for the source of the kernel (i suppose so).
3. This is what i do i change the etc/inittab file to default as 3 so it loads in terminal directly, now i run the driver ".run" file and it starts the process of installation, in the midst of it, it finds out that the kernel is not updated or so. Now it asks for an update.
so would any body be able to tell me what driver (exact name) from where n stuff
i use a asus (p5ld2vmse), pentium d 805, 1 gb ddr2 and the above mentioned graphics card
A friend told me that i should have the gcc and make files too updated n stuff
i did not get that properly so was not able to do it dunno what to do.
what is with the kernel that i can do. pls someone help
no driver -> no beryl
Beryl is another problem it does not show me any graphics i.e. no desktop, no wallpaper, no icons but it moves as the work space is changed by pressing alt+ctrl and the arrow key
it shows me a completely blank screen (white) and when i push ctrl+alt + up arrow it shows me a design for fedora
i use gnome
hope some body finds a solutions
