Hi,
I'm trying to do pritty much the same on a similar outfit. I have not got SUSE 9.0 installed yet, but I hvae found a driver for the promise controller.
Go to the link:
http://www.promise.com/support/downl...wnload_eng.asp , the driver you need is the "FastTrak TX4000 SuSE Driver"
You need to supply that driver during the SUSE installation process.
from the Promise read me file:
2.2 To install the FastTrak Series Linux Driver into a NEW SYSTEM:
1) Start the SuSE installation by booting from SuSE Linux CD1.
2) When CD boots, press F3 for Driver Disk and select
"Installation" option (see Note 3.1 below).
3) Insert the PROMISE FastTrak Driver Disk when it displays
"Please insert the Driver Update floppy".
4) When Diver Update Menu pop-up, press "OK" and "back" for back to
installer.
5) Continue with the installation as normal.
I'm also trying to install Mandrake 9.2 on the box, and it detects the Promise controller and installs on the SATA drive. I do not get the ATI card configured correctly though so I'm only running without X11 for the time beeing.
Please leave a message on the board if you are successfull!
