56k <-> VOIP drivers

I would like to use my old 56K modem to run SIP Server for voip.

Does anyone have any pointers?

Aren't there linux software that can use 56k modems as voicemail servers? That would be a starting point, I suppose.

All the s**t I come across needs fxp-!@(#-knwos who-cares port fxo blah blah who cards.

I've never tried to set up a voicemail but all you really need is a voice capable modem and of course some software. The following works with vgetty.
