using a mouse in text mode


so i attempted a gentoo install awhile ago and noticed that my mouse worked during the installationn. I found this very useful, esp with links. my question is how? I want to be able to do that in suse. Even my wacom tablet was working during the gentoo install. thanks.

install gpm , it will allow you to use the mouse in text mode ... i have it, and it is very useful, esp you can highlight text, then middle click and bash will run it like any command ..
