No mouse in text-mode

This is a minor annoyance; I can't use my mouse (see a cursor of any sort) when I run programs in text-mode (console). I can use my mouse find when X is loaded but when I'm in just the console I can't use it. I remember from a previous install, the mouse cursor was always visible. Any ideas? Is there a configuration file I need to edit?

You need to run gpm at start-up. Slackware 9.1 comes with it started as default (is this the Distro you are using). Do you get any errors from gpm at startup? If you are using another distribution then you may need to add it to startup yourself.

Mark.

Thanks! gpm was the problem, and yes I am using Slackware 9.1 (sorry I forget to say which distro ) I didn't enable it on the install for some reason, but running mouseconfig fixed it nice and easily

It's ok, it's in your profile so I guessed it was the one you were using. I need to update my profile since I'm using Gentoo more than Slackware these days.

mouseconfig, eh? Haven't heard of that one... Oh well! I am glad you worked it out.
