USB devices Get hot

Hello,

I am a recent convert from Mac OS X and so far things have been going relativly O.K. but I notice that when I plug USB devices such as my MP3 player and USB stick into my linux box they get warm unlike my Mac where there is no tempature change at all. I don't think this is a big deal but I would be curios to know why this happens. Any information would be appricated.

It's not something simple like your non-Mac PC is closer to the heating system, is it?

Are we talking Linux installed on your Mac, or a completely different set of hardware?

No, its not near a heater and the Mac has OS X on it. Also, an update, my USB transfer rates seem to have slowed down to about 9kb/s. Could this be related to the heat?
