'Support for hot-pluggable devices' option not available in 2.6 kernel

for some reason the 'Support for hot-pluggable devices' option is not available in my 2.6 kernel but it is in my 2.4 kernel. Anybody know why this could be? The option simply has a line through it.

Any help would be much appreciated.

I believe that hot-plug (aka "udev") is now basically considered to be the status-quo for how the 2.6 system works in all cases now.
